European championships Munchen (and Roma)

A lot of competition this year because of some report due to Covid19.

But, European championships 2022 are taking place in good date in Munich. It is a preparation to olympics 2024 for young teams without experience.

That's why some top competitors who did well in world championships in Athletics or Swimming are resting in holydays.

9 sports in Germany and swimming competition in Roma.

In track cycling, oranje team of sprint is there ( the big one , Van den berg, Lavreysen, Hoogland) and they are qualified in final against France.
Only news is France found a new starter Timmy Gillion who made win 0,5s to the team. Final soon but we know high superiority of Oranje.

There the same event in women team now, with 3 competitors like for men (in place of 2 before). Netherland women in final against Germany soon.
France missed bronze after a catastrophic start against Poland.

In pursuit, French teams are building. Men already won gold against Denmark and women Finished 3rd behind Germany (olympic champion) and Italy.

French trainers innovate with a new tactic: They put a starter gifted in sprint to make first kilometer ( Lafargue who made some medals on kilometer event who disappearred) then they used 3 pursuit machine with a minimum of relay.... Not bad result. May be only because the track is only long of 200m in place of 333m in usual place).

Update, Oranje team won olympic speed with 0,8s advance on France. It is less big gap ... In women race, Germany won but Netherland lost with 2nd relay in spite of best start and best finish.

In Swimming, Netherland won gold in 4X200 m women with Marrit Steenbergen in first role.

We wait final with Korsanje in 50 m butterfly in duel with Grousset and 100m women with Steenbergen in duel with Bonnet.

Het is voor Steenbergen haar tweede medaille van deze EK. Eerder was ze onderdeel van de Nederlandse ploeg die verrassend met het goud aan de haal ging op de 4x200 meter vrije slag.

Inmiddels heeft Steenbergen 3x goud: ook op de 4x100m wisselslag gemengde estafette was er goud voor Team NL

Steenbergen is obviously the new diamond of Netherland with 3 gold medals.
In other races, Italy made a massacre with several gold with Panziera, Martinenghi,Quadarella,Ceccon.
Korstanje made a bad race and swim more slow than in semi to finish 5th in 50 m butterfly.
Popovici is a real star and he is the swimmer for 2024. He beat today with 46-98 all record on 100m except world record from Cielo at 46-91.
It was in Roma too but with combi swinsuit. So, we can say that Popovici is most quick swimmer on 100m ever seen at 17 years....
France made two silver medal with Grousset (behind Ceccon)and Bonnet (behind Steenbergen).

In Germany, Benjamin Thomas won points race 1 hour after team pursuit. 2 gold medals and he beat Ghys from Belgium and Hoppezak from NL.Looks like Tour is a good preparation for him and he go back from deception of his defeat in stage of Carcassonne.

In triathlon woman, Stanford from GB won from Lindeman (ger) and Lombardi from France.

EK Roeien: 5 medailles op zaterdag

Nederland heeft zaterdag een succesvolle dag beleefd bij de EK roeien in München. Er werd vier keer een zilveren medaille gepakt en er was eenmaal een bronzen plak.

EK Tussenstand waar de medailles van vanavond nog niet zijn meegenomen. Zwem medailles zijn hier ook meegeteld.
Bij het baanwielrennen zijn weer medailles gehaald op de scratch, Kopecky won trouwens bij de dames voor België dus de wonderen zijn de wereld nog niet uit. Ook bij het zwemmen weer medailles maar daar was het toch een Roemeen van 17 jaar die de show stal op de 100m vrije slag. Bij de mannen triatlon de Fransen voorop.

Hoogtepunt vd dag vond ik de mannen acht bij het roeien. Meteen na de start een misslag voor de Holland 8 en alles leek verloren. Op dat moment bijna 10 sec achterstand en na 500m nog bijna 8 sec. Toch ging men stug door en werd zelfs nog zilver behaald. Dat mag je ziver met een gouden randje noemen.

This afternoon , team gymnastic with victory of Italy with their best athlete D'Amato.
Nl, Belgium and France was participâting and finished 4,5,6.

In climbing women, Olympic champion Garnbret from Slovenia won again in EUrope , Hilz is in silver for Austria and Hily in bronze for France.

In men triathlon, French team had a big opponent with Jelle Geens from belgium who was favorite.

But French decided to eliminate him in begin of event.

3 strong french was escaped in swimming with 7 others competitors then they worked together in cycling to keep 44s extra advance before running.

Théo Bergère won tittle before Pierre Le Corre and Dorian Conninckx. French patrol made a triple, Geens finished 5th with 30s late.

Fabio Jakobsen heeft zondag de wegwedstrijd gewonnen bij de EK wielrennen in München. De 25-jarige Nederlander sprintte naar de zege. Arnaud Démare uit Frankrijk werd tweede, voor de Belg Tim Merlier.

Yesterday, I had no time to write after swimming races.

David Popovici showed that he is the new swimmer star of the world. He is not american or australian but his talent is crazy.
He is already world champion since june in Budapest but this time he broke the world record of 100 m with 46-86 without polyurethane swinsuit.
He is 17 and he showed that it is possible without musculation ( I mean too much), he swim too 200m and he looks like the best crawler never seen because I think he coud do the same on 400.
Yesterday, he won european championship before the star of butterfly : Kristof Milak, bronze for Miressi from Italy and 4th place for french Grousset in 47-78. Incredible race.

In 50m butterfly women,Sarah Sjostrom won as waited before french Marie Wattel.

In 200m backstroke, Gold medal for Yohan Brouard- Ndoye with freench record with 1-55-62. Most amazing was that this guy had a problem yesterday when he broke device of start in semi final.
He had already some problem in olympics when he crashed himself on the wall because he missed distance because of problem of view.
Yesterday, he could swim again but alone around 21 hours but italian crowd was still there in stadium to help him to qualified for final.
In final, he was rewarded by gold before Kovacs (hun) and Greenbank (gb).
Other gold for Paltrinieri on 800m, MIHALIVARY(hun) on 400m medely woman and GB in 4x100 woman with bronze for NL.

Today, you have results about cycling with a sprint. Ackermann fall in dangerous circuit with some bareer but sprint was clear for Jacobsen ( with a jersey not orange ...pity), Demare and Merlier. Italian are beatten for first time since 4 years.

Women gymnastic final with a lot of injuries, 3 bronze medals for french Friess, Charpy (but she go out with knee injured)and Héduit. Gold for Seitz (ger), Kovacs(hun), and Malewski (ger).

Soon semi final of tracks cycling in speed with a match GB- France. No oranje because Lavreysen and Hoogland considered that the track is too dangerous and they keep their power for world championship in Paris in October.

In rowing , 2 gold medals in skiff for NL with Twellaar and Florijn and a silver with women eight. France made one silver with double scull Bové- Tarantola.

EK Zwemmen: vierde goud voor Steenbergen

Marrit Steenbergen heeft zondag bij de EK zwemmen in Rome ook op de 200 meter vrije slag de gouden medaille veroverd. De 22-jarige Nederlandse snelde naar een persoonlijk record in 1.56,36.

Athletism began this morning in Munchen with both marathon men and women.
In women race, it was an elmination game from behind and polish Lisowska won before Parlov Kostro (cro) and Nienke Brinkmann (NL) who keep bronze on sprint against german Datke.
More passion in men race, In last 3 km several attacks and change of situation.
German Petros tried to attack against 3 israelians freshly naturalized from Ethiopia or Erythrea.
Richard Ringer (ger)was 5th and looked exhausted because he was already behind from some 10s at km 35.
Teferi (isr) made his effort between km 2 to 1 from end. He caught Petros who was in agony. Surprisingly, Ringer was 3rd and overtaked 2 israelians.
Petros was dying in last km and let pass Ringer for 2nd and Ayale(isr).
Then happen magic of sport Ringer gave up his marathon rhytm to finish the last 400 m like a sprinter.
When Teferi saw him at 30m from end , it was too late. Ringer won marathon at home with heroic finish and after the line, he asked who win because he did not know that there was nobody before him.
He made the famous "Guy Drut sign" after victory in Montréal 76 olympics. Yavol Herr Ringer , you are the winner...

News: Mayer gave up this morning in 100m of decathlon , the world champion was injured and kept his physical integrity for next 2 years.

Yesterday was a good day for France, French time won easily relay of triathlon before Germany ans Swiss.

In track cycling, it was street fighting France -GB in sprint. In semi , Jack Carlin won against Helal ( in second legs, Carlin fall after a wave from the french) and Vigier beat Turnbull 2-1.
Helal won Bronze against Turnbull 2-0 and final was in finish and Vigier won in third legs. Appoitment with NL in WC in october.

Kopecky won points race with high superiority and Viviani won elimination race 5 hours after his participation to the road race....

This afternoon, spectacular event of speed climbing. Triple for Poland in woman (even 4) with world recordwomen Alexandra Miroslaw and victory for Danil Boldyrev from Ukraina.

In Roma swimming pool , great opening race with 200m men.

Star Daniel Popovici won in 1-42-97, world record junior. But not only, The world record is property from Biedermann (ger) who swam 1-42-00 with polyurethane swimsuit , Phelps was behind with help of polyurethane too and the best without help was olympic champion 2012 London Yannick Agnel with 1-43-12.

We can say that Popovici is the most quick ever seen if he was in equal situation on 200m. He will beat this record later for sure...
On 100m butterfly women, French Marie Wattel missed her race ( bad turn and touch)and take only silver 0,14s behind Hansson from Sweden. You had to see her face full of anger against herself.

We wait results of final of sprint women on tracks between Gros (fra)and Hinze(ger). French girl pushed german world champion in 3rd legs.
Suspens too in omnium women but it is look like Clara Copponi will bring gold to France but still 4 sprint to go.

Yes , it is a good idea to put all these sports without breathing in august. It is good idea too to put this kind of event in a civilized place like Munchen. It is better for mood and spectators not like in Japan (covid), China Qatar or Russia.....

after deception of silver of Wattel, it happens same to Mathilde Gros who fought to the end against Hinze but she lost from 2-3cm.
Same thing for Copponi who was in control in omnium women and she was in wheel of polish Pikuryk who was her main opponent.
But, Italian Barberi was opportunistic when she taked a round in last km to win this omnium.
Fortunately,reaction was beautifull with Rihoux, Grousset, Bonnet and Wattel in 4x100m mixt. This team of losers won their gold medal before GB and Sweden.
Same in Tracks cycling when Donavan Grondin come back from 4th place to gold in last sprint for 20cm on Consonni(ita). Wind had turned...

Again some spectacular things in Europa championships today, some passion and some good mood.

In Roma, European tittle for stars like Milak (200m butterfly), Sjostrom (50m) and others like Romanchuk (slava Ukraina,1500m)who beat Paltrinieri, Martinenghi (50m breastroke)or Gorbenko for Israel in 200m medley.
In same race, Marrit Steenbergen finished second and scored her 5th medals. Panziera(ita) and GB in 4x200m mixt before France won gold too.

In Munich, it was end of tracks cycling. A good finish for France with gold for Vigier in keirin after a good tactic and silver in madison men and women with Boudat / Grondin and Copponi/Borras. Germany made good too With Friedrich in keirin and Kluge/ Reinhardt in madison men. Italian girls with Barbieri and Zeppieri won madison race in last sprint.

France (15 medals and 6 gold), Germany( 13 medals, 8 golds) and Italy were dominant teams (11 medals, 3 gold).After Belgium (5 medals , 2 gold) and NL (6 medals, 1 gold) made their way. GB was in difficulties but it was not the best team because of commonwealth games and WC in october.

In athletism, emotionnal day for Germany with Fantastic victory in last event of 1500 m for Niklas Kaul in decathlon. He beat Swiss Ehammer from more than 26s to catch all late points. His teamates Abele was doing his last deca with fans presence.
A surprising victory on 100m women for Germany too with Luckenkemper after injury of Asher-Smith and mental problem in last 10 from swiss Kambundji.

Usual victory for Jacobs(ita) after olympic tittle on 100m,Perkovic(cro) in women discus and Tentoglou(gre) in long jump men or Ingebritsen(nor) on 5000m.

About France, it was not lucky day with fall of Hay(5000m) or 5th place of Fall(100m) or Pommery 4th in long jump with same 8,06 than second place. French director's team was awake enough to protest against a try from Fincham-Dukes at 8,06m who was not in rules. SO, he lost his silver medal and make progress french Pommery to bronze.

Today,it was the end of championships of swimming in Roma, Italian team showed a huge superiority with 35 medals including 13 gold. Today, they won 4x100m medley men, Ceccon won 100m backstroke.
They made an amazing competition with often 4 competitors strong enough to be in final ( limitation at 2 in semi final). Their Stars are Ceccon,Martinenghi and Paltrinieri.
Germany finished with 2 tittles on 400m men and women and saved honor.
First gold ever for Bosnia with Lana Pudar on 200m butterfly women.
France finished with 3 new medals : 2 silver in relay 4X100m medley and bronze with Ndoye-Brouard on 100m backstroke. Total of 13 medals without french star Léon Marchand (2 gold,1 silver in wc).
Hungary with Milak as star made 15 medals and they renewed their forces after retirement of Hosszu.
GB made 15 medals too but with a tired team and not 100% of forces.
NL made 11 medals with a big Marrit Steenbergen, she will replaced Heemskerk, Kromowidjojo but she have opponents in AUstralia.
Other stars: Popovici (rou) who tried a race on 400m too but he walk over for final. Sjostrom (swe) who made a minimal service with 2 golds and she bring her team on shoulder in women 4X100m medley.

In munchen, Tijdrit men on only 24km. Surprise with Bisseger who won for 0,34s, bronze for Ganna who make a weak season for his level.
In climbing, 3rd gold medal of Janja Garnbret. She is like Pogacar in blond and more sexy in Slovenija.

In athletism, we can classified between surprise and waited victory.
Waited one: Femke Bol on 400m with 49-44s( Klaver crashed in last 80m), Hudson-Smith (gb) in men 400m in 44-54s (Bonevacia 4th by millimeter),Pichardo (por) in triple jump with 17m50(bronze for Pontvianne (fra), Asier Martinez on 110m hurdles in 13-16s before 2 frenchies: Martinot-Lagarde who lost for 2 millimeters and Kwaou-Mathey.

Surprise: Ghelber won for Romania with 72,22m. It was a weak competition and Poland not win because Wlodarczyk was injured because she catch the guy who tried to steal her car.
In pole vault women, greek Stefanidi and slovenian Sutej had a surprise. Wilma Murto from Finland beat 3 times her personnal best to jump 4,85m. Incredible.

At last, in heptathlon women, Nafissatou Thiam is on way for gold. Anouk Vetter (nl) is on way of Silver even if she is 3rd right now.
Belgian Vidts is second on half way but seond day will be difficult for her.
Other Oranje Emma Ossterwegel is eliminated because she fell in first event on 100m hurdles.

Ook goud op 400m horden voor Femke Bol

Bol snelde in het Olympiastadion naar een tijd van 52,67 seconden, een kampioenschapsrecord. Daarmee maakte ze haar favorietenrol waar.


Door ook de 400 meter horden te winnen heeft Bol historie geschreven. In de 88-jarige geschiedenis van de EK atletiek slaagde geen enkele vrouw erin te zegevieren op zowel de 400 meter als de 400 meter horden.

No surprise in Munchen in athletism.
Bol won of course before 2 ukrainians, Warholm won too before Happio from France, Muir won easily 1500m women, Kambundji won 200m women and Hugues made the same for men.
Little emotion with victory of Romanchuk- Bekh in triple jump for Ukraina after her 4th place in long jump in last jump. Same with son of Virgilius Alekna: Mykaulas who won discus 16 years after his father.

Something fun happened in semi of 4x100 men. Italy ( olympic champion) was lucky to be 8 and last qualified in final with a time of 39-02.
But Turkey was victim of disturbance from another team in his race (Finland) and they had the right to run again alone. They made 38-98 to take pace of Italy in final.
About VTT, there was race men today and as usual in big event , Thomas Pidcock came back from line 5 on start (34) to winner.

De Nederlandse estafetteloopsters hebben op de 4x400 meter goud veroverd bij de EK atletiek in München. Dat betekende het derde goud van deze Europese kampioenschappen voor Femke Bol. De estafettemannen grepen met een vijfde plaats naast de medailles.

De vijfde vierde plaats bij het EK atletiek, nu voor Nadine Visser op de100m horden. Dat is sneu :rolleyes:. en toch wat teleurstellend.

Correctie 1: want zojuist haalde Weerman ook de vierde plaats bij het hoogspringen. Maar goed dit grote talent zien we zeker in de toekomst nog terug met een medaille!

Bij de atletiek doet Nederland het redelijk maar als gezegd, ook wat pech met veel vierde plaatsen, wel de koningin vd spelen genaamd Femke Bol, een uitzonderlijk talent.

Kijken we naar het EK in München in zijn geheel doet Nederland het redelijk al was het zeker niet top.

Zoals gebruikelijk presteert Nederland erg goed bij dit soort spelen, deze keer met een uitzonderlijke Femke Bol. Deed Sifan Hassan deze spelen niet mee? Had 1 a 2 extra medailles kunnen opleveren.
Polen met 39 medailles ook erg sterk, hiervan 'slechts' 8 goud.
Ook mijn geboorteland heeft het bij deze Europese Spelen prima gedaan met 32 medailles waarvan 9 goud (daarmee deze keer één plekje boven Nederland in de medaillespiegel). De Spaanse medailles waren er op de volgende onderdelen:

Als je die twee EK's bij elkaar optelt dan eindigt Nederland nog steeds op plaats 7. Haalt weliswaar Spanje in maar wordt zelf ingehaald door Oekraïne. Frankrijk zakt van plaats 4 naar 6 (wordt ingehaald door Oekraïne en Hongarije), Spanje zakt van plaats 6 naar 9. En Italië (sinds wanneer zijn ze zo'n sterk zwemland?) komt dan op nummer 1 (over Duitsland en Verenigd Koninkrijk heen).

Ich habe z.Teil die Kunst- und Turmspring-Wettkämpfe verfolgt.
Wie da zum Teil ital. Springer (z.B. Giovanni Tocci ) schon unter "mafiösen Methoden" die Punkte zugeschoben wurde, dann wundert mich
die Medallienausbeute nicht.
Nur ein Beispiel vom 3m Brett:
Ein Sprung von ihm Schwierigkeit 3.1 fast sauber gesprungen bekommt eine Wertung mit 8,0 und ein anderer Springer mit
Schwierigkeit 3,3 auch sauber gesprungen und eingetaucht ist mit 6,0 bewertet worden. Warum finde ich das nicht korrekt? Der
Italiener hatte seinen Sprung danach und es war klar wieviel Punkte er für Bronze brauchte.
Unverständlich, wäre in einem anderen Land nicht passiert.

Eigenlijk heb je dat bij alle jurysporten van judo, dressuur, kunstschaatsen, de turnsport... En helaas is Italie daar helemaal niet uniek in.
